Learning
Building a tiny house will undoubtedly involve teaching ourselves all sorts of new skills or reviving rusty skills. I dreaded creating the foundation for the tiny house on this hillside. Although I toyed with paying someone to just lay a concrete pad, I opted to pour footings myself - or rather with the help of my engineer, geologist and master-mind friend Joe. He and my father did all the thinking about how it should be done. And then I got to learn to survey, use a nail gun, mix concrete, pour concrete and endlessly measure and re-measure. Not an easy task with two people in the broiling Alabama sun, but what a feeling to be done with step one! Now the fun stuff can begin!!
