Starting from scratchA few years ago my sons and I bought land in a rural Alabama county. I could say I did it for the boys to hunt but I mainly did it to help us heal. We had lost much in the year before and we needed a place to breathe again. Some place new that was ours - a clean slate, just pines and dirt and possibility.

Brains and brawnMany times it takes brains and brawn to start a new project. In my case I know very little about the "how" of the tiny house project I am embarking on so the wisdom is in finding the brains and brawn, not being it. In that one way I have succeeded. Surrounded by kind, smart, sensible and willing (!) people, we are jumping in. Inside those strings lies the excitement of the unknown that is both truly tiny and huge.

BubblesHow can a single bubble be so unbelievably exciting? When it represents the first major success of the tiny house project. This means our footings are level - wow! I may frame that photo. Or get it tattooed somewhere.
